5 out of 5 stars Selah....they did it again   July 23, 2004

What a wonderful CD! Like all their pervious releases, there is plenty of variety and their very special treatment of classic hymns. They are maturing or expanding with each new album. Hiding Place sports some of their most extensive and beautiful music with rich orchestration as on "O the deep deep love of Jesus" (my favorite on the album by the way). The throaty/smoky vocals of Nicol are highlighted on "Part the waters Lord/I need Thee every hour" and her solo effort "In anything and everything". Todd's versatile and powerful voice is center stage on "All of me" and his solo piece "I turn to You". And Allan's clear tenor leads off "You raise me up". What a trio! I am blessed each time I hear their music.

I have been to 3 Selah concerts and I have every cd they have produced. I am never disappointed with their ministry of music, I have been blessed by their dedication to their missionary roots and every song they sing has their own special interpretation that has brought new awareness of "old" christian songs. Hiding Place has some awesome worship songs and it calls to the heart of our struggles as christians to be closer to God and to listen to His voice. I love their version of You Lift Me Up because you feel that this is from your heart to God's. My very favorite is Bless you name the words are so beautiful and so true. I recommend this cd to anyone who wants to experience what it feels like to speak to God through all the stress and frustration of life and know that He is with us through it all.

This CD has some really good songs on it. I defiantly recommend it. It?s not my favorite Selah albums (probably my least fav actually) but it is still great with some great songs (Bless Your Name, Deep Deep Love of Jesus, Hiding Place). I can't stand 'By and By' and 'Power in the Blood'(what is UP with those nasty background vocals?!). This CD is a little more contemporary, not that that's bad, but I like Selah with minimal music and maximum voices.

I was blessed to attend a recent live performance of several of the songs on Hiding Place. Selah performed the music live with energy, deep emotion and power. Those qualities came through on the album as well. The harmony is brilliant and gives new meaning and dimension to old standard hymns that I have grown to love over the years (I perform in a choir). Their rendition of Raise you Up is eloquent and reminiscent of Josh Groban's performance of this song. The new last verse that was included in the piece made what has become one of my favorite songs, fresh and new to me.

Overall this is an excellent CD. I highly recommend it.

This is one CD that will bless you just as it has blessed me. All the songs are inspiring and represent the prayers in my heart that I just can't find the words to say. My favorite is "You Raise Me Up." Reminds me that God has pulled me through some rough moments.
